Our Story
BUBA began with one mission: make baseball and softball accessible to Baltimore youth.In a city where over 70% of public high schools lack dedicated fields, access wasn’t just limited—it was nearly nonexistent.​What started as Saturday workouts for a few high school students quickly evolved into a movement. BUBA provided free, high-quality training where few resources existed and created a space for young people to grow, compete, and thrive.Today, BUBA is much more than a baseball program. With expanded facilities, a visionary leadership team, and a growing network of partners, we’ve built a holistic ecosystem for youth development—on and off the field.
History
Founded in 2016 to address disparities in access to fields, equipment, and opportunities for Baltimore youth, BUBA began as an effort to create equity in baseball. Since then, it has grown into a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people through athletic training, mentorship, and life skills development. In 2025, the baseball training component transitioned to The Diamond Collective, allowing BUBA to focus more deeply on community service, career readiness, and leadership through its Life After Baseball (LAB) program and other initiatives. What started as a fight for field space has expanded into a citywide ecosystem supporting athletic, academic, and personal growth.

BUBA Exists to Level the Playing Field
BUBA embodies innovation, creativity, and unwavering dedication to igniting positive change in underserved communities in the city of Baltimore. By participating with BUBA through community service, impactful mentorship, and educational workshops, our youth gain the skills and mindset to achieve both on and off the field. They also earn free membership at The Diamond Collective, further fulfilling the mission that all our collaborators share: leveling the playing field.

BUBA’s programs and substantial partnerships with other city youth programs create an unbeatable dynamic of support and opportunity for underserved youth, all with a foundation of baseball. Baseball inculcates important skills all young people need to succeed, like teamwork, focus, dedication and leadership. BUBA notches it up with LifeAfterBaseball workshops, mentoring, and community service, opening doors to new opportunities many youth didn’t even know existed.
