BUBA’s Board of Directors is a diverse group of professionals with expertise in finance, operations, coaching, and athletics. Each member brings unique strengths and experiences that collectively drive BUBA’s mission of transforming the lives of Baltimore’s youth. Together, they provide governance, strategic planning, and program development, ensuring the organization remains a beacon of opportunity and inspiration for underserved communities.

Andrew Weltlinger

President of the Board

Andrew Weltlinger is the Founder and President of BUBA. With over 22 years of experience at Merrill Lynch as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and professional money manager, Andrew brings extensive expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. Nine years ago, Andrew founded BUBA to provide Baltimore City’s youth with access to free baseball and softball training, mentoring, and life skills development. Under his leadership, BUBA has grown into America’s first and only free baseball/softball training facility, serving over 2,300 youth annually. Andrew continues to lead BUBA’s expansion, developing innovative programs like LAB (Life After Baseball) sessions and forging partnerships that create transformative opportunities for Baltimore’s underserved communities.

Randy Kail

Board Member

Randy Kail is a seasoned professional in the financial sector with decades of experience in private equity, investment strategy, and wealth management. His ability to analyze complex financial landscapes and identify growth opportunities has been critical to the success of organizations he’s worked with. At BUBA, Randy provides strategic oversight and guidance on financial planning, fundraising, and long-term sustainability. His leadership helps ensure that BUBA’s programs remain scalable and impactful for Baltimore’s youth.

Donte Powell

Board Member

Donte Powell is a former Major League Baseball player who was drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft not once, but twice. Donte played at perennial powerhouse Cal State Fullerton under legendary coach Augie Garrido, where he developed as an elite athlete. Now based in California, Donte brings his firsthand knowledge of the professional sports world and a passion for mentoring youth athletes to BUBA. His contributions include strategic insights into program development and outreach to underrepresented communities, ensuring BUBA continues to foster growth and opportunity for Baltimore’s youth.

Luther Alexander

Board Member

Luther Alexander is a former University of Maryland football player who now excels as a logistics and operations professional. With expertise in managing large-scale operations and ensuring resource efficiency, Luther plays an essential role in BUBA’s operational success. As a board member, he helps streamline processes, ensuring that the facility remains a safe, productive, and welcoming space for youth participants. His leadership is instrumental in helping BUBA maintain its high standards for both programming and operations.

Bill Greenwell

Board Member

Bill Greenwell is a highly accomplished baseball coach with over a decade of experience at the varsity, youth, high school, and college levels. Since he began coaching varsity baseball in 2011, his teams have made the conference playoffs every year, reaching the championship game six times and winning conference titles in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021. Many of Bill’s players have gone on to play collegiately and professionally. In addition to his coaching achievements, Bill serves on the board of BUBA, where he helps guide program development and mentoring initiatives for inner-city youth, ensuring that young athletes have access to quality coaching and resources to support their athletic and personal growth.

Tony Miranda

Board Member

Tony Miranda won the 1995 NCAA National Championship as a baseball player at Cal State Fullerton under legendary coach Augie Garrido. Based in California, Tony is now a respected collegiate baseball coach and educator, serving as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Cerritos College. Tony brings his championship-winning experience and decades of coaching expertise to BUBA, offering invaluable guidance on coaching techniques, youth mentorship, and program development. His leadership helps BUBA maintain high-quality training programs and foster excellence among its young athletes.

Charles Santangelo

Board member

Charles Santangelo is a financial services expert with a proven track record in investment operations, risk management, and corporate finance. Having held leadership roles in various organizations, Charles brings a deep understanding of financial planning and compliance. At BUBA, Charles provides critical financial oversight, ensuring the organization remains fiscally responsible and sustainable. His expertise helps BUBA explore innovative funding strategies and maintain its commitment to providing free training and mentorship opportunities to underserved youth in Baltimore.
